Imaging Space — built by imagers for imagers

What is this?

A community-driven hub, a fair marketplace, plus a curated gallery. Variety over uniformity. Exposure without chasing algorithms.

I’m currently developing the Imaging Space Platform — three connected sites that funnel attention (and a bit of “scope money”) back to the people who actually make the images:

  • ImagingSpace.co.uk — community & contributor hub. Learn, share, get feedback, and (soon) list yourself in a community-curated directory that points people to your website, socials, forum threads and YouTube — zero lock-in.
  • SpacePictures.co.uk — a fair marketplace for prints and licenses that respects authorship and quality.
  • SpacePix.art — a curated gallery for public outreach and premium installations.

Platform vision

Goal: give overlooked amateur imagers a proper stage and fair rewards — without selling out the craft.

Three sites, one ecosystem

  • Imaging Space — community & contributor hub: learning, feedback, dev tools, calls for data.
  • SpacePictures — marketplace for prints and products, built to respect authorship and quality.
  • SpacePics.art — curated gallery and limited editions for premium presentation.

Fair rewards

Transparent terms, clear credit, and revenue that can offset costs — maybe even a bit of “scope money.”

Where it stands

Today, The ImagingSpace platform is just me and my personal BroadlandAstro site plus the infrastructure for the two websites spacepictures.co.uk and spacepix.art. The plan is to build a developer hub for the platform into ImagingSpace.co.uk, then open doors to contributors as the pieces click into place. I don't expect this to be a quick process and it definitely isn't going to be a get rich quick scheme. What I hope to build is a sustainable community that can look after itself and share in the rewards. I’ve got plans for a community magazine and other bits — but a community needs... well, a community. I can’t build that alone.

What you can do today

Imagers & contributors

Right now (while the platform is under development): not a lot — being honest. Once ImagingSpace.co.uk is active you’ll be able to register your interest there and add yourself to the community directory when it opens. We’ll link to your website, socials, forum threads and YouTube — not to third-party shops.

Developers & tinkerers

I’m looking for code reviewers, web developers and print partners. Honestly, ChatGPT is writing a lot of the scaffolding right now; if you can help shape this properly and want to be a founding member, create an account and say hello in the developer area when it becomes available. In the meantime feel free to send me an email to say Hi.

Supporters & educators

Help raise the platform’s profile (BBC, Sky at Night, Astronomy Now — we’d love to talk). If you can assist with set-up costs (hosting/print calibration, etc.), brilliant — but the aim is community-driven first. Get in touch.

Why it’s different

  • Community-curated directory. Promote your own presence (site, socials, forum threads, YouTube) with zero lock-in.
  • Fair by design. Clear credit and honest routes to real-world rewards.
  • Vendor partnerships. Sponsor zones targeted to an exact audience; real-world testing by vetted contributors; gear giveaways and competitions done transparently.
  • Built in the open. Early contributors help set the shape and get first dibs on features.

How the News fits in

When JWST or Rubin grab the big, headline-grabbing slots, we’ll pair those stories with amateur takes on the same target — side-by-side — so readers discover the variety they’re missing and the community gains visibility through the moment.
